    early years he trained in the junior categories of the Albacete Balompié, which he joined when he was 8 years old. F.C Barcelona placed eyes on him and recruited him in 1996 after his performance in Brunete’s National Juvenile Tournament.

    After spending a few years in quarry and two seasons as a Barcelona B player, Dutch coach Louis van Gaal upgraded him to the first team, where he had his debut in season 2002/2003. Two seasons later, young Iniesta was already an official player of the Barça, becoming in his first year as part of the team, along with Eto’o, the figure that played more matches. Iniesta’s importance in Futbol Club Barcelona has growth over the years. In 2008 he becomes team captain.

    Regarding his role in the National Team, Iniesta has been a key player since he was first selected in the sub-16 and sub-19 categories. Later on, Luis Aragonés asked him to be part of the Official National Team in 2006. His relevance in the national team has been rising ever since then, being the the only player performing in al matches of the Euro 2008 Champisonship, a tournament in which the Spanish team AKA ‘la roja’ beat rivals and became champion. His top moment on the National Team was the goal he scored in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, which would take Spain to the victory. He dedicated this goal to deceased Dani Jarque.
